What did you enjoy about your degree programme?

The intellectual freedom to explore a wide variety of concepts and go into whichever direction I decide with my ideas. The notion that in the social sciences there is more than one valid way to answer the same question made for a constantly fascinating journey, and being taught by such great academics instils a natural curiosity and thirst for knowledge.

Tell us about the award you have received. What does this award mean to you?

I received the ‘Goldsmiths Award for Significant Contribution to Departmental Life by a Department of Politics student’. Receiving this recognition meant a lot because the Politics Department and the people in it have given me so much, and it is nice to know that I have managed to give at least a little back. It is also great in general that such an award exists because it shows how closely staff and students work at the Department in order to improve the entire experience.

What has been the highlight of your time at Exeter?

My extracurricular activities with the Politics Society and the student newspaper Exeposé. Through them I have learned a lot of new skills, met some of my closest friends, and together we achieved things that I am very proud of.

What will you miss the most about university?

The people – there is no place where so many smart, kind, humorous and fascinating people come together as a University campus, especially that of the University of Exeter. The students and staff I have met here have made all the difference, and I’m a better person for knowing them.

What advice would you give to current and future students?

Challenge yourselves and get out of your comfort zone. University is the best possible time to develop new skills and get better at those you already have.

What are your plans now that you have graduated?

I am excited to be starting a graduate position at a market research firm in London. I would also like to one day get back to academia for a Masters’ degree.
