The Quad

‌‌

These images show the bomb damage to North Cloisters in the late 1940s, and a game of cricket on the Quad after the Cloisters were re-roofed.

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌

As well as cricket and other sports, for many decades tennis has been very popular on the Quad in the summer. The background of the two pictures above portrays a 'before' and 'after' of the arrival of South Cloisters, which was built in 1967.

And on the occassions when St Luke's landscape becomes wintery, the Quad has been the venue of choice for the building of snowmen, snowladies, and large-scale snowball fights - the last count saw around fifty participants battling it out.
