Tutorial

a small group of students who meet up with a tutor to discuss the progress of their studies

A tutorial is a study session during which an individual or small group meets with a tutor in order to discuss their work, progress or general course issues. A tutorial is intended to teach by example and is a highly interactive method of teaching and learning.

Tutorial groups are generally smaller than those that would typically meet for a seminar or workshop.

A tutorial is similar to one-to-one supervision where only one student is concerned, though usually a group of 2 or 3 students will be involved.

Tutorials alllow for discussion of course issues and content.

At Exeter tutorials can also be offered in support of the main course content, to concentrate on a particularly complex issue or activity, to look at additional materials or to provide additional English language support to students whose first language is not English.
