Teacher Training Open Days

Becoming a teacher will lead to an exciting and rewarding career. Quality teachers are highly sought after, and choosing the right teacher training programme is an important step in ensuring a successful career.

If you are interested in training to become a teacher, we host Open Days in the Autumn, Spring and Summer terms. Our open days provide you with the opportunity to visit our campus, meet our tutors and learn more about our PGCE and School Direct programmes.

UCAS Apply 1 opened on 18 October 2016. For the full list of important dates please see the UCAS website.

Please note that for English, History and Physical Education you are advised to attend an earlier open day as these programmes can fill soon after Apply opens.

We are hosting our own events, as well as attending other University-run events and external teacher training open days. You will find full details of all events for the 2017 entry period in the table below:

A few comments following a recent open day:

"I arrived with a list of questions and they were all answered without me taking out my list. The event not only inspired me and confirmed that a PGCE was the right route for me, but it also gave me confidence not to hesitate and get my application in as soon as possible. All the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly."

"I felt the most useful part of the day was having lunch with the tutors – that was where we learnt the nitty-gritty about the course, how it’s run, the placements and career advice. We also got the chance to talk to other prospective students. I found it informative and welcoming. All of my questions were answered in a very friendly way. I found all the staff I talked with to be very approachable and informative."

"Top marks to our tour guide, who was buzzing with enthusiasm. When I left the Open Day I felt extremely positive and motivated."
