ABSTRACT

The present work is an attempt to understand the social philosophies of Mathematics of Paul Ernest's Social constructivism as a philosophy of mathematics. It seeks a comprehension of what Paul Ernest takes into account about both Ludwig Wittgenstein and Imre Lakatos Philosophies of Mathematics. This work calls social philosophy of Mathematics those philosophies close to Social Constructivism according to Paul Ernest. The Philosophy of Mathematics is presuppose as the background to the practice in Mathematics Education.
