The Centre builds on a long tradition of teaching thinking research at Exeter.

About us

The Centre for Teaching Thinking and Dialogue (CTTD) researches and develops education for skills and dispositions for the whole of life and for a rapidly changing world. We support several projects related to dialogic education with technology and teaching metacognition. The centre is the main research home of the Masters pathway in ‘Technology, Creativity and Thinking’ led by Dr Judith Kleine Staarman.  It also provides research support for an emerging global network of Exeter accredited ‘Thinking Schools’ which is coordinated by the Cognitive Education Development Unit (CEDU).   The Exeter ‘thinking schools’ approach developed by Professor Bob Burden, incorporates the principles of a wide range of successful approaches to teaching thinking into curriculum practice.
