Project aims are to develop the existing music specialism strand in the University’s Primary PGCE programme to provide a more developed and coherent approach to preparing trainees to work as school based music coordinators/class teachers alongside instrumental tutors in primary schools and to learn how to use a range of resources to support children’s learning in this context.  The project is designed to support the Government’s review of music education by providing additional training in music creation for primary trainee teachers. The training will focus on the availability of software and digital instruments to assist pupils in learning to play a musical instrument.
