Dr Emese Hall
Senior Lecturer in Art Education, PGCE Primary Programme Director

I am currently Director of the PGCE Primary programme.  I lecture on the PGCE Primary and MA Creative Arts in Education programmes, and supervise MA, PhD and EdD students in researching various aspects of primary and/or visual arts education.

Previously a primary and early years teacher, I began lecturing part-time at Exeter in 2005 and full time in 2010.  A holistic understanding of visual literacy informs my academic practice and, with a degree in architecture, I am passionate about the potential of drawing as a tool for learning.  My research interests encompass drawing, reflective practice, professional learning, communication, and creativity.

I am a Council and Forum Member of the National Society for Education in Art and Design (NSEAD), and Co-ordinator of the NSEAD Regional Network Group, Exeter Area Art Educators.  I am also currently a Board Member of Spacex  Other recent positions were as a Member of the National Expert Subject Advisory Group for Art and Design Education, Member of the NSEAD Publications Board, and a South West Regional Network Co-ordinator for the Cambridge Primary Review Trust.
