Harriet White

My teaching career began when I had the great privilege to study Outdoor Education and Natural History at Antioch University, Ohio, USA.  Here I found my vocation for teaching and learning.  In addition to this, my undergraduate training as a zoologist, led me to become a strong advocate to Outdoor Learning and Learning for Sustainability.  My path led then to Exeter University, where I studied for a Primary Science PGCE, and received the Ted Wragg Award.  My teaching practice in primary schools was highly rewarding, and here I continued my research into Outdoor Learning and the use of technology in schools.

In 2012 I started to teach on the Primary Science PGCE at Exeter.  The following year I lead the Early Years Specialist, and currently lead the School Direct@Exeter Primary PGCE.  Alongside this I am  the academic lead for Teach First Primary (South Coast)

My research interests are currently linked with the Re-Place Research group.  Here, we are researching connections and effects of environment and sustainability on the relational pedagogies of trainee teachers.
