Senior Lecturer in Education and Director of Thinking Schools @Exeter


I am interested in the following teaching topics:

  1. Technology in Education
  2. Dialogue in classrooms (this includes both peer collaboration and interaction and teacher-student interaction)
  3. Educational research methodology, in particular methods for classroom based studies. This includes mixed method approaches and qualitative methodologies such as (sociocultural) discourse analysis, Interactional and educational ethnography, video and audio based research, case study methodologies and action research.
  4. Educational theory, in particular sociocultural and dialogical theories

I am involved in a wide range of courses, at both graduate and undergraduate levels. I am specialism leader of the MA Technology, Creativity and Thinking and module leader for the Digital Futures and Teaching Thinking in the Internet Age modules within this specialism. I also lead the MA Education Dissertation module and teach research methods on the MSc Education and EdD programmes. In addition, I am involved in the PGCE Professional Studies programme and I supervise a large number of MA, MSc, EdD and PhD students.
