Overview
I am a lecturer in education. My research interests reside in inclusive education, special educational needs and mental health in schools.
I gained my PhD in 2017 from UCL, Institute of Education. In my thesis, I explored the interrelationship between school ethos, sense of school belonging and social relations of young adolescents with SEN. The title is: “Does a school with an inclusive ethos enhance the sense of school belonging and encourage the social relations of young adolescents with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties?” My research sought to understand what makes a positive school experience for students with MLD and SEMH attending secondary mainstream settings in England.
Between 2018-2021, I worked as a post-doc researcher at the University of Derby in various small scale projects focusing on enhancing the transition of young people with intellectual disabilities from school to employment and independent living.
