Ms Fiona Knapp
Honorary University Fellow and Evaluator for Thinking Schools @Exeter
Fiona has been involved with primary education for more than thirty-five years and was a Headteacher for fourteen years. She is passionate about children’s learning, and has had extensive experience in the primary school sector.. She is now a freelance educational consultant and works with schools across the UK and worldwide leading a range of training in developing children’s learning and thinking.
Fiona is an Evaluator for schools seeking accreditation as a ‘Thinking School’, an initiative developed in partnership between Thinking Schools @Exeter (formerly the Cognitive Education Development Unit) at the University of Exeter and Thinking Matters (formerly Kestrel Education). Fiona is an Honorary University Fellow and works closely with Thinking Schools @Exeter in the school assessment and accreditation process at both primary and secondary level. She is an accredited trainer in a range of thinking tools and strategies including Growing Thinking Schools, Habits of Mind, Questioning for Enquiry, David Hyerle’s Thinking Maps and Edward de Bono’s Six Thinking Hats® and CoRT1 Tools. Fiona has also been an Associate Trainer for the International Primary Curriculum and Fieldwork Education since 2007, has led training for schools across the UK and in a wide range of schools internationally, and also plans and leads courses at IPC Summer Schools. Fiona has also delivered training in schools on behalf of Espresso Education and she is a school Governor.
