Politics alumni give advice to students at the Penryn campus

An in-depth discussion about career planning and career development took place at the Penryn campus at our "What I did with my Politics degree" alumni talk in November.

Having graduated in 2012, both alumni had been through a number of different thought processes and they shared their experiences with students who attended the event. Initially Georgia decided to go into PR and continues to work freelance whilst currently undertaking a PhD. Dominic went in to a number of commerical organisation, building up skills and experience in business. During this time he discovered his interest developed in how businesses relate to each other in a legal context. He will start his BPTC and train to become a barrister next year.

Our alumni explained to current students the importance of doing as much as they can now to build up a strong CV with skills and experiences that demonstrate transferrable skills. Dominic commented; "It was great to see people taking careers seriously." The event was followed with lunch and networking which allowed time for students to ask questions directly to our guest speakers.

A big thank you goes to our Penryn alumni for all their support with this event.
