The path to a perfect career: start your journey now!

Thinking about what you are going to do after you graduate may seem like a very long way away. However, even at this early stage you can start to develop key employability skills and start to make links with employers. It's important to do this as employers offer opportunities to students in their first years so that they can spot talent early on.

So how can we help you?

It’s never too early to start planning your career. We have a variety of employability events that you can attend and are popular among first year students. To see what’s available click here.

Your first year is the best opportunity to get involved in employability events and workshops, network, attend alumni talks and devise a career plan. Visit the Career Zone and find our more about jobs and internships. Taking part in interactive tasks can improve your presentation skills and confidence. They can also help you translate personal interests into professional paths that you had never thought of.

Each year, hundreds of students take part in employability events. Recent graduates have been happy to help with some tips and recommendations. Read what they recommended for freshers here.

For up-to-date opportunities and news, like our Social Sciences and International Studies Employability page on Facebook. For Politics students there is also the Politics Internships and Work Experience page.

We look forward to seeing you there!
