University of Exeter Law students win a trip to McLaren
The University of Exeter’s Law School’s team named ‘Take Your Old Records off the Shelf’ placed second in the Norton Rose Fulbright GP (Grand Prix) Challenge this year, giving them the chance to visit the amazing facility at the McLaren Honda Technology Centre.
Christophe Peretti, LLB Graduate Law student, and Kana Yamada, INTO student, represented the University of Exeter’s team on the visit. Christophe described the visit:
“Arriving at the centre, we could already distinguish an amazing 570S Coupé. The day began with a warm welcome from the McLaren team alongside refreshments, followed by a tour of the centre with a seminar and presentation. The centre houses all of McLaren’s cars and we were able to explore the history of the company, taken through time from the very first McLaren car right through to their latest Formula 1 car, the MCL33.
There is a corridor in the centre which showcases all the trophies won by McLaren and I really like the philosophy of this wall showing success comes from everyone within a company, and highlights the importance of effective teamwork. The day finished with an excellent three course dinner with the other finalist teams and it was great to get to know them in a relaxed atmosphere.
I am really proud of our team and our achievements throughout the competition. I feel lucky that I had the opportunity to participate in this visit and was able to discover so many amazing cars and their history."
Many law firms run competitions and initiatives for students to demonstrate their teamwork and commercial awareness abilities, and we encourage students take part future events.
