Welcome to Careers and Employability in the College of Social Sciences and International Studies

Starting your employability journey can be daunting but the College's employability team are here to help you. We have a range of resources which cover many aspects of networking, skills development and placement opportunities, depending on which department you are in. Our alumni panel events enable current and former students the opportunity to discuss all aspects of career development across a broad spectrum of careers and professions. The events are also great networking opportunities and we encourage you to make connections and build your own networks from them. Careers Consultants support your development through small group sessions on CVs and applications which take place in term two. Look out for our "Careers Week" information for more details. Placement opportunities can be explored through a range of second and third year modules. You can find out more about placement modules on the College's website.

To find out about what's on throughout the year just take a look at the College's "Employability Newsletter - Helping you Build Your Brilliant Career", check out the Employability events page and My Brilliant Career (ELE page), search and book on event through My Career Zone and follow us on social media. There are lots of ways to access information, pick the best one for you!

If you are unsure about what career you want to follow, by starting the decision-making process early you stand the best chance of discovering what is out there and how you can get more information. To help you on your way, all first year students go through the eXfactor employability and professional development day. Look out for dates in your timetables. The Career Zone in the Forum has a range of excellent careers resources and you can pop in to book a careers adviser appointment or ask one of the friendly Information Staff any questions.

There are lots of discipline specific activities and events happening this year, so get involved. We look forward to seeing you at one of our events very soon.
