Degree: Law LLB
Current place of work: Norton Rose Fulbright
Stephanie graduated from the University of Exeter in 2015 and is now working at a law firm in central London. She spoke to us about her motivations and career journey so far.
Please provide us with a brief background history of your degree – Why that particular discipline?
While I was very set on pursuing a career in law when applying, I was torn between choosing Economics or Law. I really enjoyed my Economics A Level and my teacher encouraged me to explore the subject further. Ultimately, I chose Law because I wanted the opportunity to engage with legal issues in an academic setting.
What have you done with your degree? Where do you currently work and what is your role?
I have been fortunate enough to be offered a Training Contact, so I will be starting my LPC in March 2017. In the meantime, I am working with knowledge lawyers (I know, I didn’t know either) at a law firm in central London, which means that I am constantly applying what I learned in my studies.
Are there any words of wisdom that you would give to new graduates?
If you still have not secured the role that you are looking for, do not despair! Be assured that you have graduated from an amazing University with a strong degree, which makes you an attractive candidate. I was in that position, but if you are proactive and resilient you will achieve what you set out to do.
