Postgradute student life
The Institute has a cosmopolitan, international flavour, with staff and students from a wide range of cultural, religious and linguistic backgrounds making it a friendly, lively community. Teaching members are open and approachable and if you have a particular point you would like to discuss, members of the Institute are of course happy to help. All students are allocated a personal tutor or mentor and a vibrant Student Staff Liaison Committee exists to facilitate discussion between students and staff on teaching and learning related issues. You will have the opportunity to develop skills of independent study and research, oral presentation and group work.
You will also be part of the wider College of Social Sciences and International Studies Graduate Research School and will have plenty of opportunity to mix with students and staff from other disciplines and take part in events or hear visiting speakers’ seminars. The Graduate School team also provides a friendly point of contact for any queries you have about the application process, orientation or life within the Institute.
