Programme overview
The world's only degree programme with the title MA Gulf Studies focuses on the Gulf region encompassing the Arabian Peninsula, Iraq and Iran. It provides an in-depth knowledge of the contemporary Arab States of the Gulf and of their modern history, societies, economic structures, natural environment and resources. It will appeal to anyone who is interested in the political, economic and social history of the Gulf States. You will benefit from the unique facilities of the Institute’s internationally renowned Arab World Documentation Unit.
The MA in Gulf Studies will appeal to graduates with little or no background in Gulf Studies as well as those who would like to deepen their knowledge. Programmes within the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies are based on the latest cutting-edge research and as a result progress quickly, closing the gap between the two groups of graduates
Although you do not require extensive background knowledge of Gulf Studies, prior experience of the region itself is desirable.
