Postgraduate study
Postgraduate programmes
Based at the University of Exeter’s Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies and situated within its College of Social Sciences and International Studies, the Centre is well placed to draw on expert faculty from both the IAIS and the Department of Politics. Through the IAIS, we offer unique Palestine Studies research programmes for postgraduate students.
Our Master’s degree in Palestine Studies enables students to acquire extensive understanding of Palestinian history and politics. Topics studied include the use and abuses of history writing, providing students with the skills to deconstruct historical writing and an understanding of the ways in which representations of the past are used in current debates concerning Palestine. Core modules for 2011-2012 address the History and Historiography of the Palestine Question and Palestinian Politics after Oslo. Our MPhil/PhD Palestine Studies also offers candidates a multi-disciplinary course of study.
These degree programmes complement a range of related postgraduate degrees offered at Exeter, including the MA Ethno-Politics, MA Gender and Identity in the Middle East, PhD Ethno-Political Studies and PhD Middle East Politics.
