Professor Hashem Ahmadzadeh
Biography
I was born in 1961 in Iranian Kurdistan. After graduating from high school in Mahabad, I began my university studies in Zahedan University and in 1986 received a B.A. in English language and literature. From 1988 until 2005 I lived in Sweden. In 1992 I began my studies at Uppsala University and in 1995 received a B.A. in Oriental Studies (political science). In the following year I completed an M.A. In 1996 I embarked on PhD studies, spending the first year in London at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), and in March 2003, I received my doctorate from Uppsala University. My dissertation, Nation and Novel: A Study of Persian and Kurdish Narrative Discourse was published by the university in the same year. In 1999 I started teaching various courses on history and politics of the Middle East and on Persian Literature and Language. My teaching at the University of Uppsala ended in September 2005 when I started working at the University of Exeter as Lecturer in Kurdish Studies. I have published many articles in Kurdish, Persian and English and translated many articles and books from English and Swedish into Kurdish.
