Biographical Details

Born 10.2.1934. Educated at Haileybury and ISC 1948-52, Gonville and Caius College Cambridge 1952-55 Hons Natural Sciences Tripos (3rd) BA 1955, MA 1959. Royal Air Force (Flt Lt) 1957-65 attended Services Arabic Course at Durham University 1959.Member of the Liaison and Personnel Depts of Petroleum Development (Oman)Ltd 1966-1969 and 1970-73, IBM (UK) 1969/70. Sales. 1974-77 Export Manager at Medsales Ltd. 1974-82 Independant Marketing Consultant. Proprietor of Rowden Gardens 1982 to date. Married 1961 Galen Sayers, having now two daughters.

Research Activities

In the field of Arab Studies.
Otherwise, as some time holder of four National Plant Collections for the National Council for the Conservation of Plants and Gardens I have conducted botanical and horticultural research in respect of those Collections. ( Water Iris, Caltha, Polygonum and Ranunculus ficaria, which last received a Scientific Award in 1999)
