The Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies is one of the UK’s, and indeed Europe’s, main centres for teaching and research in this field. The degree programmes we offer fall into three overlapping areas of study: Middle East studies, Islamic studies, Arabic language and literature. We are the only institution in the UK that teaches Persian and Kurmanji and Sorani Kurdish, and our interests range across the Middle East and the whole world of Islam, from Europe to Asia. Our modules relate directly to our research interests, so you will be taught by experts and be brought up to date with contemporary issues.
