Syllabus Plan

  • Introduction: the nature and purpose of insurance, reinsurance, types of insurance, the position of England within the international insurance marketplace
  • The law reform process: the 2012, 2015 and 2016 legislation
  • Insurable interest
  • Disclosure and Representations
  • Warranties and other terms
  • Claims and post-contractual good faith
  • Subrogation and contribution
  • Agency
  • Regulation: Statutory regulation and self-regulation
  • Dispute resolution: litigation, arbitration and the Financial Ombudsman Service
