Icelandic constitutional reform 2010-2017: visit of expert from Iceland

The Human Rights and Democracy Forum hosted prominent Icelandic constitutional law expert, Ágúst Thór Árnason, University of Akureyri, for a three day visit in November.

A leading scholar in Icelandic constitutionalism, Ágúst Thór Árnason also sat on the 2010 Committee of seven experts, which prepared the initial report on the constitutional revision. Sharing unique insights into the drafting process, he presented a research paper on the codification of human dignity in the 2011 Proposal for a New Constitution.

Ágúst Thór also met our first year students of constitutional and administrative law to explain and discuss with them the Icelandic constitution and the 2010-17 reform process.
