Overview

Nick joined the Law School in Penryn as a Senior Lecturer in 2021. Prevoiusly, Nick was a barrister (2010 Call, Lincoln's Inn) and practised at the Commercial and Chancery Bar for 11 years. During that time he was also a Senior Associate Tutor at the University of Bristol. He remains an Associate Academic Member of St John's Chambers in Bristol. Nick is also a member of the Lexis Nexis PSL panel of experts and has written numerous guides and precedents in the field of private international law.

Nick's practice at the Bar saw him specialise in offshore litigation and private international law, advising and representing litigants in litigation and arbitration around the world. He has particular experience of litigation in the Channel Islands, Cayman Islands, Anguilla, Delaware, New York, Singapore and Dubai, as well as before the English courts. Nick's appellate work has taken him through the appeal courts of numerous jurisdictions, up to and including the Privy Council. 

Nick is the Year 3 Co-ordinator of the LLB Law with Business programme at the Penryn Campus. He convenes the Equity & Trusts, Corporate Governance and Corporate Finance units and takes a lead on the development of advocacy skills and opportunities for Penryn's students.

During his Bar school studies, Nick was Lord Mansfield scholar of Lincoln's Inn and a recipient of a Hardwicke entrance award. He has won numerous prizes for academic performance and subsequently led and represented a cohort of aspiring barristers on a Lincoln's Inn visit to the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg. He continues to write and speak at conferences and other events, both in the UK and overseas.
