Susan obtained her LLB from King's College London, where she also obtained an LLM in International Commercial Law. Following a period of working in a large international law firm and in the legal department of a public listed company, she studied for her Ph.D. at the Centre of Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary, University of London. Prior to her lectureship with Exeter, Susan contributed to LLM teaching at the Centre.


Susan's research has focused on the paradigm of internationalization of financial markets within national legal systems and rules, and, on the establishment of international legal frameworks and rules. She uses traditional legal research methods, as well as economic analysis and empirical methods in her research. Susan's research interests also relate to the law and regulation of financial markets and financial instruments, the institutional and the conflict of laws perspectives of regulation.
