Programme overview
This four-year programme provides you with the opportunity to spend your third year abroad in a law faculty in Australia, Singapore, Canada or the USA. Like all of our LLB programmes, our LLB with International Study programme is fully accredited by the Law Society and covers all the foundation subjects that are required to pass the Academic Stage that forms part of the professional qualification as a barrister or solicitor. On graduation you will be able proceed to the Solicitors’ Legal Practice Course or Bar Vocational Course.
The programme is available to you only after you have taken the first year of our LLB programme. You may be able to transfer onto the LLB with International Study at the end of the first year if you get marks equivalent to at least a 2:1 in the first year modules and are successful at interview. Each year six places are offered on a competitive basis to first year LLB Law students at the Streatham and Cornwall campuses. Providing you maintain high academic levels during your second year, you can expect to spend your third year overseas in one of the following institutions:
| Australia | University of Wollongong |
|---|---|
| Canada | University of Carleton |
| Singapore | Singapore Management University |
| USA | University of Connecticut |
Please note that you cannot apply for the LLB with International Study degree directly through UCAS.
As part of a strategy to strengthen the School of Law, the LLB in Cornwall will move to the Streatham Campus in Exeter from 2013. The aim is to concentrate the teaching expertise and research resources of both campuses in one location, improving module choice across the School and enhancing the student experience.
If you are successful in your application to the LLB with International Study (which is only available after successful completion of the first year of our LLB programme) you will spend your second year in Cornwall, your third year abroad and your final year at the Streatham Campus.
