Nominate now for the College Student Engagement Awards

To celebrate a fantastic year in the College, Student Engagement Assistants Emily Barrett and Niobe Shaw are organising the Student Engagement Awards to recognise and reward the hard work and dedication of Academic Reps, Change Agents and volunteers in 2014/15. The event will take place on Monday 1 June.

With a range of Students as Change Agents projects this year, some great promotion for initiatives such as Research Uncovered and Teaching Awards, and some fantastic work by all SSLCs, this year has been a success for student engagement in the College. This event will build on last year’s first Student Engagement Celebration in the College and will now include a showcase of the diverse range of Change Agents projects before an awards ceremony and speeches from key staff.

We are asking students and staff to nominate individuals, groups and projects in the following categories:

  1. 1.        Student Led Project of the Year
  2. 2.        Legacy Award
  3. 3.        Outstanding Postgraduate Chair
  4. 4.        Outstanding Undergraduate Chair
  5. 5.        Inspiring Rep
  6. 6.        Outstanding Commitment to Representation
  7. 7.        SSLC of the Year

Criteria for each category can be found here, and you can nominate here. The deadline for nominations is 8th May, after which a panel of College and Students’ Guild staff will meet to decide the winners.

Elaine Davies (Assistant College Manager, Education) observed that last year’s event was “one way for the College to thank all student reps for their many exciting initiatives during the year which have helped enhance even further the student experience in SSIS.” This now annual event is a great way to bring students, College and Guild staff together to celebrate some fantastic achievements.
