The University of Exeter’s best lecturers were recognised by students at the Teaching Awards 2016 on 28 April.

Exeter Law School academic wins Best Lecturer at the Teaching Awards 2016

Christina Walton was the winner in the Best Lecturer category and shortlisted in the Best Employability Support category. Dr Kubo Mácak was also shortlisted in the Best Taught Supervisor category.

Christina said of her win: "I am surprised and thrilled to have won this year's Student Guild award for "Best Lecturer". The award is a testament to the engaged and motivated students we teach in Law who make my job so very enjoyable. I am incredibly grateful that they took the time to nominate me, and look forward to developing and improving my lecturing this coming academic year."

Run collaboratively by the University of Exeter Students’ Guild and the Falmouth and Exeter Students’ Union (FXU); the Students' Guild Teaching Awards were introduced in 2012 to recognise the outstanding dedication and commitment of University staff. They were created to acknowledge staff, who not only provide outstanding academic experiences, but who support their students' wider development.

Professor James Devenney, Head of the Exeter Law School, said of this achievement: “It’s wonderful to see our students recognising the work of Exeter Law School staff. It highlights how the student experience and the provision of excellent, cutting-edge teaching and supervision we deliver is having such a positive impact. Many congratulations to both Christina and Kubo.”

Karen Ball, College of Social Sciences and International Studies Registrar said: “Awards, such as The Teaching Awards; particularly as they are organised by the Students’ Guild and FXU and voted for by students; are a great way to celebrate the education experience at Exeter. Student led awards are important because they highlight to us how inspired our students are by our academic staff. It’s wonderful to see our academic staff celebrated in this way.”
