Research grant awarded for research into food security

Dr Robert Fish has secured funding from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) for research work enabling farmers and scientists to engage in discussions about food security.

The research funded by this grant will be focused on the work of North Wyke Farm Platform in Devon, a unique national agro-food research facility owned by Rothamsted Research, which is in turn funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council. This research will involve farmers critically examining and discussing the work carried out on the platform, and exploring its potential impact on regional land use in the future.

Dr Fish is a member of the University's Centre for Rural Policy Research, and teaches Master's level modules on the Political Economy of Food and Agriculture, and The Politics, Policy and Practice of Sustainable Development.
