Call for papers: Panel on Trust and Regulatory Governance at the biannual conference of the ECPR standing group on regulatory governance

David Levi-Faur, Koen Verhoest and Martino Maggetti invite paper proposals for their panel on Trust and Regulatory Governance at the biannual conference of the ECPR standing group on regulatory governance to be held in Exeter, UK, June 24-26 2020.

Panel abstract:

Trust – as a precondition, condition and consequence – is a crucial criterion for the assessment of the effectiveness and legitimacy of regulatory regimes. Yet, studies on the interrelations between trust and regulation and between them and systematic trends in the confidence and functioning of democracies are still in their infancy. We therefore invite papers dealing with the study of the determinants and effects of trust and distrust relationships in regulation and governance. We focus on trust relationships that unfold within regulation regimes – mainly concerning regulators, as well as on those that involve other stakeholders in regulatory governance such as politicians, ministries, judiciary, intermediaries, rule takers, service providers, consumers and other beneficiaries.

Please send short proposals until January 15, 2020, to: martino.maggetti@unil.ch ; levifaur@mail.huji.ac.il ; koen.verhoest@uantwerpen.be.
