Professor Alison Harcourt running a conference on 15th Nov at the Houses of Parliament, Portcullis House
The project investigates decision-making within standard developing organisations (SDOs) with no state involvement, exploring the influence of state and civil society actors on SDO decision-making. The November workshop focuses on recent policy change and the rising importance of FRAND clarification due to an increase in the demand for SEPs, spectrum use and copyright in the Internet of Things. The workshop is supported by MPs Matt Hancock, Ben Bradshaw and Ed Vaizey (current and former culture ministers) and attended by 70 representatives from industry, regulatory authorities, MPs, representatives from parliamentary committees, NGOs and academics. Participating organisations include the BBC, ISOC, Privacy International, Samsung, and W3C.
