My research interests and areas of supervision are centred on four main areas: regulation and regulatory governance; industrial, science and technology and innovation policies and governance, the governance of biotechnology, and energy policy and sustainable development. This work covers both Canada in the context of NAFTA and North American politics and governance and the UK in the context of the EU.

Professor of Public Policy in the Politics Department at Exeter University, and also in the School of Public Policy and Administration at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.

Director of the Carleton Research Unit on Innovation, Science and Environment (CRUISE)

Initiator and Editor of How Ottawa Spends, the School of Public Policy and Administrationís annual review of Canadian national priorities and public spending.

Author of numerous books on comparative and Canadian public policy and also on key areas of global governance such as intellectual property, trade, competition policy and environment.

Advisor and consultant to numerous government departments and agencies in Canada and internationally with agencies such as the OECD.
