Lecturer in Political Theory

I am interested in most areas of moral and political philosophy, and some areas of legal philosophy. My recent research focuses on egalitarian theories of justice and fairness, the ethics of risk, the morality of consent and its role in politics, policy options in response to climate change, and the use of intuition in moral reasoning.

I completed a BPhil and DPhil in philosophy at the University of Oxford, under the supervision of G. A. Cohen. I joined Exeter in 2007 and have held visiting fellowships at the University of Toronto and the Universite Catholique de Louvain. From 2012 to 2014 I will be a Leverhulme Research Fellow, working on a project entitled 'Solving Moral Conflicts', which looks at the role of intuition in reaching answers to contested moral and political questions.
