The year abroad is an excellent opportunity to become immersed in another culture and to gain fluency in a foreign language.Study abroad
We encourage our students to study abroad as part of their undergraduate degree programme. We believe that study abroad can be highly beneficial academically, and highly rewarding personally.
If you take Politics or International Relations with a modern language you will normally spend your third year abroad; for details please see Modern Languages.
For our other degree programmes, including those in Cornwall, you may study for half a year at a partner institution in Europe, North America or Australia. Students based at both campuses can also follow a four-year ‘with Study Abroad’ programme which allows you to spend your third year abroad. You may apply directly for the four-year programme or transfer from another programme once you are at the University. Full details of these schemes and of our partner institutions can be found on our College Study Abroad webpages.
