Prof. Andrew Pickering to take up visiting fellowship

Starting from October this year until March 2013 professor of sociology and philosophy Andrew Pickering will take up a senior research fellowship at the Internationales Kolleg für Kulturtechnikforschung und Medienphilosophie (IKKM), Bauhaus-Universität, Weimar, Germany.

Every year the IKKM invites an international group of visiting fellows to work alongside a permanent academic staff. The field of research of the institute is centred around the question of how the relation between humans and things can, or perhaps must, be approached in an age of highly technicised media societies. The umbrella topic for this year’s cohort is 'Synchronization—the Production of the Present'.

Prof. Pickering’s contribution to the project is to be a book provisionally titled “Art, Agency and Environment”.
Details about the institute, their current and past research projects and people can be found at http://www.ikkm-weimar.de/home/prm/43/0/index.html .
