Dr Jean Harrington
After being awarded her PhD in Sociology at Egenis in 2011 Dr Harrington took on the roll of Research Fellow at King’s College London researching into kidney transplant patients’ perspectives on medications determined by biomarkers. Returning in 2017 to SPA and Egenis she is now Project Manager for a Public Engagement element of ‘Exploring Diagnosis: Autism and the Neurodiversity Movement’ headed up by Dr Ginny Russell. Her role is to bring to fruition the production and screening of short films on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Autism and Neurodiversity. Returning to the subject of her PhD, Dr Harrington is also working with Professor Christine Hauskeller researching into the cultural and ethical aspects of the translation of stem cell research into the clinic focusing on the Clinical Trial, BAMI. Her roles allow her to focus on the social impact of developments in medicine and genomic sciences and to explore the power of emerging medical terminology and its impact on disciplinary fields and the general public.
