Lecturer
I am a social anthropologist who has worked on a range of innovative topics ranging from city planning to interdisciplinary research practice, to the temporalities and governance of oil developments in West Africa. I have carried out ethnographic research in Europe, Africa and the U.S., and have conducted consultancy research for international organisations. My book Berlin, Alexanderplatz: Transforming Place in a Unified Germany was published by Berghahn Books (2010).
As the programme leader of Anthropology and a lecturer at Exeter, I welcome enquiries from prospective students and anyone interested in undergraduate or postgraduate study in anthropology or sociology. I am always keen to hear from people who would like to pursue research on topics related to my work, including urban anthropology, economic affects, environment and natural resources, citizenship, governance and planning, place and space, temporality and materiality.
