Other Information
My research has attracted considerable interest outside academia, leading to consultancy research for UNDP in STP (3rd Human Development Report on agriculture, land and natural resources) and for the Open Society Institute Southern Africa.
In addition, I enjoy participating in unusual initiatives, such as a multi-disciplinary event on the island of Príncipe, which I realised in May 2009 with astrophysicists at Oxford and Edinburgh. Bringing together anthropology, astronomy, and local educational institutions, the event aimed to strengthen both scientific knowledge and the tourist industry in relation to my current field site. Building on this research I worked with Spanish artist Paloma Polo in preparation for her project 'Posición Aparente' exhibited in Madrid in the Museo Reina Sofia in 2012.
I also run an “Anthropology of resources” group on the Open Anthropology cooperative website. See http://openanthcoop.ning.com/group/anthropologyofresources
