Dr Hilary Wheaton
Affiliations and Board Memberships:
Dr Hilary Wheaton is a member of the Advisory and Editorial Board for the Centre for Media and Celebrity Studies and Editorial Board Member for WaterHill Publishing.
Her main research interests are within the field of human sexuality, bodies, and Internet studies. Hilary gained her PhD by investigating the spectrum of human sexual interaction and expression that occurs on the Internet; exploring cybersex, blogging, erotica, online sex shops, virtual worlds, internet dating, and pornography, she utilised the body as an analytical lens by which to examine each instance of sexual activity and reveal connections between them.
Academic and Vocational Employment:
Hilary has worked as a sessional academic on-campus for Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia, and for Open Universities Australia, and has previously worked as an Instructional Designer producing online courses for a private RTO. Dr Hilary Wheaton is now located in Melbourne, Australia, and works as a learning designer for Swinburne Online producing online tertiary courses for Swinburne University. Swinburne Online is part of OES, which was ranked number 1 on the 2015 fastest growing business list.
At some point, Dr Hilary Wheaton wishes to return to the UK and pursue further research.
