The module explores the various ways women resist to prevailing gender constructions within the Middle East. It provides a critical analysis of existing forms of resistance and dissent, ranging from feminism, women's movements, art and entertainment to Islamist activism. The module will also examine the construction of and resistance to gender construction across national and regional boundaries by looking at transnational social movements and migration
