In this module you will examine the emerging structure of global governance and administration that many see as key aspect of globalisation. This includes both informal aspects, such as the pressure from Western states and international agencies for all states to adopt "good governance" norms and formal aspects such as the international regimes in areas like trade, intellectual property and the environment. The aim is to give you a solid historical and critical understanding of key developments and concepts such as the World Trade Organisation, the role of the United Nations, "good governance" and "global civil society" as well as a comprehension of policy making and administration at the global level and the way national, regional and international institutions and policy makers both co-operate and compete with each other
