This module will prepare you to teach religious education (RE) in secondary schools. It will provide you with opportunities to strengthen your subject knowledge in key areas to enable you to teach with confidence.  Most importantly, this module will ensure that you have access to the latest thinking, current debates and research in the field. As a trainee teacher, you will examine the implications of theories of learning for different approaches to teaching (pedagogies). In this module you will be introduced to the best practice in RE and have plenty of opportunity to try out various teaching strategies. It will provide you with the opportunity to develop a secure understanding of issues surrounding the teaching and learning of religious education in secondary schools today. To take this module you will normally need to possess an upper second class or first class degree in a relevant discipline such as Theology, Religious Studies, Islamic Studies, Biblical Studies and Philosophy.
