ARA1026 Kurdish 1 (Kurmanji)

This module introduces you to texts of an intermediate level and the various major sub-dialects of Kurmanji, including reading practice in modified Arabic and Cyrillic alphabets. You will develop oral and aural skills through language lab work and conversation practice, and will learn to write simple texts.

The learning approach will be interactive, including pair work, group work, language games, and language laboratory work. Texts will be read in various subdialects and you will be encouraged to compare and contrast linguistic features. Wherever possible, You will not only read but hear these. Directed learning and private study outside the classroom, with as much work as possible in the language lab.
