In this module you will consider the development of the contrasting phenomenologies of Hegel and Levinas, and reflect on the ethico-political systems that the two thinkers construct on the basis of their respective phenomenological philosophies. You will consider the operative role of a series of key concepts in the works of Hegel and Levinas, including consciousness, difference, the other, transcendence, totality; and to determine the ways in which these concepts reveal Levinas' ethico-philosophical project to consist in a critique of Hegel
