America has shaped the modern world but is its influence declining and if so, what does that mean for international relations? In this module you will examine America in the world, the nature of its foreign policy, its role in world order maintenance and how it can respond to possible decline. This module will provide students with a firm grounding in understanding America’s role in shaping the modern world and possible changes in the post-war international system and how this may impact on human civilisation.

There are no pre-requisite requirements to take this module, and this module is suitable for non-specialist students.  Students taking this module will not be able to take the 3rd year module POL3174.
