As Partnership Director, I am responsible for all partnerships with schools and colleges involved in Initial Teacher Education. I am responsible for the formation and quality of the partnerships, the provision of the induction and support of school-based mentors and for the assessment and moderation of trainees on PGCE courses. I am also responsible for quality assurance of those placements. This includes our own Exeter Partnership PGCE as well as School Direct and Teach First courses. I also play a role in brokering research action partnership and oversee the Primary Enrichment Programme, designed to enhance opportunities for learning for gifted and talented primary pupils. I assist with some other placements in schools beyond ITE. I am a member of various Teaching School Alliance's strategic boards and engage with ITE colleagues from other providers both regionally and nationally.
I represent the University of Exeter on the Strategic Boards of several Teaching School Alliances, at regional network meetings and other national ITE events.
Bachelor of Education (Leicester)
Prior to my appointment as Partnership Director at the University of Exeter I taught in secondary schools in Leicestershire, Coventry and Devon. I taught Geography and Religious Education and held Head of Department and Head of Year roles, as well as Initial Teacher Education Coordinator, teacher governor and senior managment positions. I am joint author for a series of books and resources in the 'Religion for Today' (OUP) series.
