Overview

Timon Hughes-Davies is a Senior Lecturer (education & scholarship) in Law. 

He teaches on the Law of Torts, the Law of Trusts and the Medical Law and Ethics modules.

Research

My research interests include trusts and, in particular, the basis of implied trusts and the role of equity in providing proprietary remedies, and have published work on the Quistclose Trust. I am also interested in medical law and, in particular, mental health law and the use of coercion to enforce treatment without consent.

Biography

I took my first degree in Chemistry at Oxford University in 1984. In 1988, I was awarded a doctorate from Oxford for my thesis on the use of X-ray reflection to study liquid surfaces. I worked in industry and in the voluntary sector before returning to university in 2007, taking a GDL at Bournemouth University, followed by the LPC.

In 2010, I was appointed to a post at Bournemouth University, teaching Equity and Constitutional and Administrative Law. I joined the Penryn Campus of the School of Law at the University of Exeter in 2011 In 2013, I moved to the Streatham Campus. I am module convenor for the Trusts and the Medical Ethics and Law modules, and I teach of the Law of Torts module.
