New Approaches to Political Cohesion in Democratic Systems: Workshop organised by Exeter Centre for Political Thought

The Department of Politics Centre for Political Thought in collaboration with Oxford University and the Political Studies Association (PSA) Political Thought Group held a workshop on 29 November. Its general purpose was to discuss the recent contributions to democratic theory by Matteo Bonotti (Cardiff, and from 2018 Monash University), Joseph Lacey (Oxford), and Sofia Näsström (Upssala). Bonotti and Lacey have recently published books exploring ideas of partisanship and political integration in multilingual societies respectively.

Key questions discuseed and debated included how different democratic processes and conceptions of democracy may impact political cohesion and stability.
